Activities

Walks

All dogs are taken out on 3-4 walks each day.  Each walk lasts about 10-15 minutes.  The amount and duration of the walk depends on your dogs' health and conditioning, especially when the outside temperatures are exceedingly high or low, or the weather is nasty.  Our caring, attentive staff will treat your pet as their own.

Baths

Though not every dog or cat necessarily appreciates we offer two types of baths for our patients needing a spa day.  Our full service bath is just that.  It includes a thorough shampoo and conditioning treatment followed by a massaging towel dry or blow dry (depending on the patients comfort level) and additional pampering services, such as nail trims, ear cleanings, and anal gland expression.  Our medicated bath is the same, only a prescription medicated shampoo is used to treat specific skin conditions, which vary from patient to patient.  Please call us to discuss pricing for our boarding and bathing services.  During holiday periods we fill up fast so make your reservations early.

Dogs

Our kennels are spacious and climate-controlled to meet the needs of your special dog.  Kennels are cleaned twice daily, and more often as is necessary as sometimes accidents do happen.  Pets may bring their own beds, blankets, and toys to feel more at home, however, we have soft clean bedding which is cleaned and sanitized after every use for your convenience and your pet's comfort.

Cats

Your kitty will have a separate boarding area from the dogs with their own condo overlooking a butterfly bush out back. They can relax away from the hustle and bustle of the dogs.  We try to keep their area as quiet and cozy as possible, while checking on them and feeding and watering them, as well as playing with them several times daily.

Safety

Our kennels and cat condos are climate controlled and completely indoors.  They also have a sprinkler system for fire safety.

Medical Care

Pets who take medications regularly will receive them according to labeled instructions. (Clearly labeled medications and concise, typed instructions on how best to administer medications are a must.)

Treats

We love to spoil our guests as much as you do.  Our pet guests will receive veterinary approved dog and cat treats.  We recognize that some dogs and cats may have food allergies or other dietary restrictions.  Owners of pets with special dietary needs are encouraged to provide their pets customary food as well as treats.

Vaccinations

Lake Cumberland Animal Hospital requires rabies vaccinations for all dogs and cats to be current for the health and safety of our staff, other patients and clients as well as to be in compliance with local and state laws.  If vaccinated elsewhere, proof of current vaccination status must be provided at the time of admission for boarding.  Records can be faxed to 606-678-0985 or emailed to reception@lcvets.com.

Dogs must also be current on the Distemper virus, Parvovirus, Bordatella, and Canine Influenza vaccinations to protect the health of all our other canine patients.  If you dog isn't current at time of boarding, we will be more than happy to bring their vaccination status up to date during their stay.

Cats must also be current on their feline upper respiratory complex vaccinations to protect the health of all our other feline patients. (Feline patients are never comingled; feline leukemia virus vaccination is not required to board at our facility.)

Reservations

Due to limited space, especially for larger dogs, we recommend calling ahead for a boarding reservation.  Holiday seasons can be especially busy!  We recommend calling at least a month in advance for our holiday boarding services in order to guarantee a special space for your pet.

Sunday and Holiday Pick-up Times

You may pick up your pet at any time during our normal business hours.  Our clinic is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays and most major holidays.  We can only release pets at 5 pm on those days, and only with prior arrangement with our kennel technician.
